Aerial view of the Royal Observatory Edinburgh from the South. The original Observatory building with its distinctive copper domes can be seen at the top-right. To the left of this is a collection of 1960s buildings which house the Institute for Astronomy and the lecture theatre. The curved building at the bottom-left houses the Crawford Laboratory and offices of the UK ATC. In the centre of the site are two original buildings that housed the Astronomer Royal and his assistants. Since the 1970s these have been used as office space. At the bottom of the picture is the canteen and more laboratories.
