Public Astronomy Evenings

Every Friday evening from 6th October 2017 – 27th April 2018

No sessions on 22nd December or 29th December

6:30pm - 7:30pm and 8pm - 9pm

Are you visiting Edinburgh for the first time or simply looking for an alternative night out? Are you curious about astronomy and want to find out more?

Come and hear the story of Edinburgh’s Royal Observatory at our winter Public Astronomy Evenings. Each session lasts 1 hour and includes;

  • A tour of the beautiful Victorian telescope dome
  • Stargazing outside on the flat roof (weather permitting)
  • A chance to handle real meteorites
  • Time to ask questions

These events are designed to be suitable for all ages, with the earlier session timed for those with younger children. When the weather doesn’t allow us to stargaze, alternative activities will be arranged.
